The Art of Cartonnage! Single Fabric Box! VIRTUAL Beginner Class #104
Cartonnage is the amazing "art of box making" that is SO fun and relaxing. This is a NO-SEWING required project and you can make amazing fabric boxes, cases and so much more! If you are not into Quilt making or Embroidery but just love fabric, this is a technique that you must try.
This is a class listing for a VIRTUAL CLASS! You can join Barb from anywhere to learn this unique hobby. To make it easier, we have available a Beginner Supply Kit for you to purchase. With purchase, we will mail this out to you after signup so you are ready for class. The price of the kit for you includes enough postage to get it out to you. This kit will contain almost everything that you need to be able to sit down at your table, fire up your ipad and join us via Zoom to learn a new hobby. The only thing you need to find in your kitchen is a clean Cool Whip lid or something similar for the glue. At the end of your few hours with us, you will be creating and enjoying a no-sewing way to create unique pieces for your home or gift giving. All pieces are available on our website and we share pictures of projects Barb has done on the Website.

Cartonnage Virtual Supply Kit
In order to give us the time to mail your kit to you, you must sign up for this class by August 31st.
One last reminder, when you sign up for class, it is a 2 step process. You will pick this class to sign up for, then you will follow the link to get your Supply kit. When completing your class sign up, please include in the last step your contact information and enter your address. This gives the store a smooth transition to get your kit out to you.
So you are asking, what about fabric? You will also need to collect some fabrics in your favorite color pallet to create your fabric box. You will need the following in your house the day of class:
- 2 fat quarters which are 18x22 fabric or more for more variety in your project options
- snips
- scissors
- 3x12 ruler usable with rotary cutters on your cutting mat listed below
- heavy book to weigh down your project
- rotary cutter
- cutting mat - Can be a smaller one - 12x18
Fabrics that you will want to avoid for this project are directional fabrics and fabrics that could bleed. If you are worried about bleeding, wash and dry your fabric first. Do not use Kona Fabrics either to get a successful outcome.
We are quite thankful that you have expressed interest in the hobby of Cartonnage. We look forward to adding more classes to the Virtual listing as demand requires us to do so. We are keeping the number that can join Barb to a reasonable number to give you the best experience we can for a Virtual class. If you find the seats are filled when you sign up for class, please add your name to the waitlist. That allows us to guage when to add another offering.
