990 Users - Amanda Murphy Placemats

This project was created by Amanda Murphy and we are going to bring it to you in a classroom based setting.    These placemats, include these techniques :   

Fabric Applique
Jumbo Stitch in Embroidery
Using the scanner to exactly place a border design
Quilting in the Jumbo Hoop
4 point placement



During Class, we will focus on getting 2 placemats done.    Cheryl has found it is much easier to navigate this project by creating them 2 at a time.    This will be done entirely in the classroom here.   There will be no zoom for this class.   Also need to point out, for our class, we will not be doing the free motion quilting as Amanda Murphy did in the instructions.   This is mainly done as a time constraint factor and as everyone knows, free motion is not for everyone.   We will be doing a quick demonstration of the process so you are aware.

This class is going to be full of information with all the things that are going to be covered.   We will update this description as we get closer with specifics for you to have done prior to class.
 
Things to bring for this class:

Machine
Module
Giant Hoop
Embroidery Foot   26L
an embroidery thread that will contrast to the fabric you are using
Yellow bobbin and black bobbin case
oil
needles in case of a break
Bobbin Thread and bobbin thread on one bobbin
snips
Marking pencil/pen/chalk
ruler
matching threads

Paper and pencil to take notes - When we are closer to class, we will send an email with the complete list of what to bring.

When you arrive day of class, please pull up parallel to the building at the front door.   Have your machine on the passenger side or in the trunk and we will grab it and you can continue to pull forward to park.   

Please bring a lunch with you.   We have a fridge for you to use.
