990 - Learn it, Love it, Use it Classes - Quilting functionality on your 990

These sessions are to help you learn your new 990. You will learn, share information, and be with others that have the same questions that you may have and a passion to learn this fabulous machine.
These sessions will be free to those of you that have purchased your 990 from the Sewing Studio. If you have a 990, want to attend these sessions and did not purchase from the store there will be a charge for these classes but you are very welcome to come join us. To join, please call the store. The fee for each class will be $150.00. These are classes that last almost the entire day -- so money well spent.
This class will jump in and I will demonstrate Embroidery Functionality that helps build your confidence on your machine with pinpoint placement, picking a design that works for your project, how to lock designs, and how to use the resizing functionality that this machine allows you to do. Any and all questions are allowed to make sure you have the knowledge that you need. Please get your questions together regarding any topic or a situation that you have experienced since the last time we got together.
Things to bring for this class:
Machine
Module
Oval and Midi hoop if you have both.
Giant Hoop
Embroidery Foot 26L
White/red/black embroidery thread
Yellow bobbin and black bobbin case
oil
needles in case of a break
Bobbin Thread and bobbin thread on one bobbin
snips
Marking pencil/pen/chalk
ruler
Paper and pencil to take notes
This time we will be doing a couple of sew outs for practice. Please bring fabric as follows:
1. Fabric and stabilizer to fit your Midi hoop. A plain fabric is best - it is just for practice so no worries the color. We will be scanning this one and reviewing placement.
2. For your Giant hoop, bring fabric, a thin batting, and a backing or stabilizer ie polymesh that fits this hoop. Again, this will be a practice , so no worries about the color. scanning will not be used this time. It will be an exercise on bringing in a design, resizing, combining, grouping, nesting. This project will be a great combination of techniques to get an end result!
3. For the last exercise, we need fabric for your Giant Hoop. We will be quilting this sandwich. I am suggesting a 30x30 square of fabric for the top fabric, batting at 30x30, and your backing fabric of 36x36. If you want all pieces to be 36x36 that will also work. You will need a chalk marker for this exercise and an acrylic ruler to draw lines, I suggest a minimum of an 12" ruler, an 18 or 24" will also work. For this exercise, a plain fabric is best that a chalk marker/pencil/pen will show on. This will not be a piece of art when you are done but will be a place to start understanding the process for quilting a project.
When you arrive, please pull up parallel to the building at the front door. Have your machine on the passenger side or in the trunk and we will grab it and you can continue to pull forward to park.
Please bring a lunch with you. We have a fridge for you to use.
For those of you long distance, this class will be a Zoom Class. While I am still working on my presentation skills with the camera involved and with students in the room, I am getting better at it. Make sure we have a good email for you if you want to participate from home.
