Holly Jolly Tree Skirt
It will soon be time to deck the halls and put up the tree! This hexagonal tree skirt comes together easily and is a way to showcase multiple festive fabrics. After you make one, you’ll want to make another to give as a gift. BONUS: you’ll also learn how to adapt this pattern technique to make a table topper for any season of the year.
Fabric Requirements are going to be determined by the size of the project you want to make. For the top of the tree skirt, you can use yardage or 2 ½” precut strips. NOTE: Every other section will be flipped. If you choose a directional fabric, it will be upside down half of the time. For example, if Santa’s head is always upright on the yardage purchased, it will be upside down in every other panel of the tree skirt. Choosing a random print or solid will avoid this problem.

This will be a two-day class project. During the first class you will complete the tree skirt top. Your homework between class sessions will be to cut and sew the binding for the tree skirt together. During the second class, you’ll make the quilt sandwich and begin quilting those layers together. What a great time to come and get help on taking on a project from start to finish! LeAnn is a very accomplished sewer and will give you great tips for completing this project and give you the confidence to complete another one.

Instructor Bio: | I’ve been sewing since I was 6 years old. Prior to that I would stand on the rung of my mother’s sewing chair and wrap the tape measure around her shoulders while she sewed. I was a 10-year 4-H member and then majored in Home Economics at the University of Illinois. I started quilting after college to make baby quilts for my friends. I was a 4-H leader in McLean County and helped many club members with their sewing and quilting projects. I enjoy sharing my love of quilting with others. |
