Little Logs Starburst Table Topper

Here's the project just for you if you want a bite size project that can be completed in a couple of classes with plenty of time left to complete others for Christmas gifts.    This 20x20 table topper can be done in colors of your choice and features the Creative Grids Log Cabin Trim Tool for 4-inch finished blocks (CGRJAWMN4) and the Creative Grids Strippy Star Tool (CGRDH2) rulers.    Many of us love rulers to help creating projects and this project fits that bill.

This is a 2 day class project.   With some homework in between, you will be able to have this totally pieced together and ready to be quilted at the end of session 2.    Rita will guide you through the steps required to use the rulers successfully and  you will have a great time creating this project.  Don’t you love the way the border treatment accents the center design? That center design is made up of sixteen four-inch traditional log cabin blocks made with the Creative Grids Log Cabin Trim Tool for four-inch finished blocks. Because of the size of the finished blocks, all the logs can be cut from five-inch squares! Thirty-two dark and twenty-eight light squares will make the log cabins and the corner star units, just add the red center, borders, and binding.   The star points incorporates the Creative Grids Strippy Star Tool which creates floating points so those points will remain sharp and crisp even after you attach the binding!

This is not for a beginner.  You must be able to sew a successful 1/4" seam and must be able to use rulers for cutting and creating.

You will bring with you:

Little Logs Pattern from Cut Loose Patterns
Rotary Cutter with or have available a new blade.  There is a good deal of cutting for this one.
Mat
Ruler - suggested 6 1/2" or 6" x 12 or 12.    You are cutting smaller strips and I find this size works well.  But personal preference here is ok.

Other items that you may find helpful for this class:
12 or 14" rotary cutting mat
Pressing mat and a small iron to use at your station.   This will help speed up your cutting and pressing with the amount you will be doing, however, the classroom also has an iron in the room - some rooms have 2
Best Press for your smaller pieces makes it easier to sew and cut

There must be at least 4 students sign up for this class for it to proceed.   If we do not reach this minimum, a refund in the form of a store credit will be issued.  If you need to cancel last minute, please call the store.  If the store must cancel due to minimums not being met, sickness or weather, we will try to reschedule the class or we will refund the class fee to your account.   When you arrive for class, please be ready to unload your car at the front door and then move to the east side of the building.   If you have mobility issues, you are more than welcome to park in the front of the building -- east end.
