Simply Serging

Simply Serging! Join us each month to tackle a new project that has been developed to allow you to better understand your serger. You will need to bring your serger. This can be any brand/model. You need to have a working knowledge of your serger to attend these classes.

Each month, you will need to bring all your serger feet, power cord, foot pedal, and thread. Other supplies may vary depending on the project!

February Class: Lettuce-Lover Scarf

Have you ever wanted to learn more about the settings on your serger? In this class we will be learning about Differential Feed, a foundational serger setting that you may not have ever heard of before. We will go over what it is, when to use it, and how you can use it to add embellishments to your serger projects. We will also be creating a lettuce-edge scarf that will utilize our Differential feed settings. You do not to cut your fabric out before class, we will have plenty of time for everyone to finish their project!

Supply List:

Pattern- A Field Guide Serger 101: From Setting Up & Using Your Machine to Creating with Confidence. If you took the December Kimono class, you already have this book.

Scissors

This is a great opportunity to use your knit scraps. You will want to bring at least 3 fabrics @ 1/4 yard each. Knits are generally 60" wide, which is recommended so your scarf is long enough. Option to use more than 3 fabrics, this will determine the width of your scarf.

Thread- need at least 2 serger threads. Option to use decorative threads (Spageti, Fruitti, or Isacord are great options) Option to choose thread that matches your fabric or choose thread that stands out. Either will work for this project.

Snips

Clips

Serger Feet

Anything else that's part of your serging procedure!

Important Note: When taking a class at the store, please drop off your machine and supplies at the door and then please move your car to the east side of the building. If you have mobility issues, you can park to the east or west side of the front of the building. We must have 4 students to move forward with this class. If we do not meet the minimum, we will cancel the class and give you a refund to your account at the store.
