Simply Serging: Criss Cross Apron

Beginning in April 2024, a new serger series of classes will be kicked off -- Simply Serging!   Different projects have been developed to allow you to learn your serger by taking you through a progression of different projects -- using different techniques on each one.

Overlockers are amazing machines, especially when we understand how to use them properly.  This project based series of classes will start with a beginner friendly garment pattern: Mary Mulari’s Criss Cross Apron.  You will join Kenzie and Connie as they guide you through the steps of setting up your serger/overlocker.  This usually involves threading and inserting needles in the correct position.  It is recommended that you come to class with your pattern cut out and fabric selected.  If you would like to cut out your fabric and fuse your interfacing prior to class, feel free to do so.  The instructors may have some tips/tricks for cutting and fusing if you choose to wait.

You will need to bring your serger.  This can be any brand/model.  You need to have a working knowledge of your serger to attend the class.  In this pattern we will primarily be using an overlock stitch.  There will be a couple of opportunities to use the coverstitch.  If your machine does not have this functionality, we will provide at least one machine for class use.

Each month, you will bring your serger and all your serger feet, power cord, foot pedal, and thread.  See suggested supply details below:
