Block Mania - Getting to know Quilt Blocks

This is a GREAT class for the Beginning Quilters or quilters that have been quilting for a bit but are ready to try new blocks.   Each month, there will be a featured block to get you comfortable with construction of that block.  Most quilt patterns are made from a few basic blocks which we will be discussing in this series. Just think about how this will help you?   When you see that favorite pattern and you see the block you have worked with, you will feel confident you can construct that pattern.     

During each class, you will be discussing:

•         Quilt block history,
•         Cutting the individual fabric pieces
•         Piecing and sewing the block together. 

This will be a great way to build your quilting skills, where you get experience in a class environment for creating these blocks, have a great time sharing tips for improving your sewing skills and potentially learn about your machine as well. 

As the class continues, it will be a good time to share tips and tricks for cutting fabric more accurately with your rotary cutter and rulers, how to square your blocks and what works for creating that perfect quarter inch seam and how to press your seams.

And the most exciting part of this class, is you won't just have news skills and blocks at the end, but you will have a Sampler Quilt when you are done that you can use and enjoy.

These are the blocks you will be constructing:

- Disappearing 9 patch
- Flying Geese
- Square in a Square
-  Half Square Triangles
-  Bear Paw
-  Log Cabin

While coming to every class is beneficial, it is not required.  They are all priced individually but to have a project at the end, we suggest you attempt to make each class.   This class is off to a brilliant start!   Everyone that has attended or jumped in are raving about what is happening for their quilting skills.    You didn't jump in?   Come on ine for the next class and watch for what will be happening when this class wraps up.

Magic Wand

There may be some very useful rulers that are discussed during the different sessions.   These rulers are meant to make your job in creating these different blocks easier.   The list above is what to bring each month, Cathy will introduce you to new rulers as you move through the series

Fabric Requirements:

5 Fat Quarters and 3/4 of the background (white) will complete all 6 blocks.    Use colors of your choice!
