Beginning Sewing -- Let's make a Large Tote Bag
OK Beginners! Here is the class for you! Come join us and let's make a large tote bag, learn allot in the process and have a great time too.

You come pick your fabric and your supplies to make -- bring a machine to class -- and leave the rest up to us to guide you through this tote bag!
In this class you will learn to:
- Use a rotary cutter and ruler to cut fabric. If you prefer, you can use scissors for cutting instead.
- Sew a basic straight seam. We will do some practice before beginning to stitch your tote.
- Create a lined tote bag with an inside pocket.
For class you will need:
- Basic understanding of how to use your sewing machine.
- Your sewing machine with a new universal needle (size 80) and thread to match your fabric.
- Fabric/supplies for the tote:
- Top of outside of the bag and inside pocket – 2/3 yard OR 1 fabric panel
- Bottom of outside of bag – ½ yard
- Lining – 2/3 yard
- Fusible fleece (Pellon 987F) – 1 1/3 yard
- Webbing for handles – 2 yards
- The pattern is free and will be provided in class.
- Cutting Tools –
- Rotary cutter, ruler (if you have them). Sewing Studio will have some that can be shared. OR scissors if you want to cut your fabric with scissors.
- A small pair of scissors for cutting threads.
- Frixion fabric marking pen (the ink disappears with heat on MOST fabrics). We will test on your fabric before marking in a noticeable place.
