Beginning Quilting

Hey all new quilters or those of you who want a new hobby!!    This class is the class for you!   This class has been built to cover the fundamental basics and to give you a solid foundation to keep on going on more projects.    And the store host additional classes to help you move forward to the next steps of quilting.

This class will take you from picking fabrics and color matching, through the rotary cutting basics to master good cutting habits, and being able to read a pattern, and then move into sewing and mastering the 1/4" seam, and how to press your sewn together items and will finish up with adding borders and will finish with you doing binding either on your quilt or on sample quilting fabrics.

We strongly suggest that you purchase the book - First Time Quiltmaking.  The pattern for the quilt you will construct - Three Rail Quilt -  is in this book as well as wonderful reference information.

During the first class, we will talk about products that you use for quilting -- what type of ruler - what type of rotary cutter, etc.   We will also get started on sewing and the next steps.

For all classes, you will be bringing these supplies:

Sewing machine - foot pedal - power cord - needle 80/12
Cutting mat for your table
Rotary Cutter
Scissors/ snips
Ruler (to be discussed on day 1)
clips or pins
thread to match your project
Fabric for your project - Please come to the store and pick your fabric prior to the first class.   Anyone in the shop can help you if you struggle with colors and prints.

For this class, we are meeting for longer hours at a time, to allow you to complete your project and get it back in the month of December.   Hence, this could be a Christmas Gift to yourself! (or others)

Please note:  The price of this class only covers enrollment.  Additional materials such as fabric, thread, etc. will be necessary to complete the course.  The best part is - we will help guide you through these purchases to choose what is right for you.

There must be at least 4 students sign up for this class for it to proceed.   If we do not reach this minimum, a refund in the form of a store credit will be issued.  If you need to cancel last minute, please call the store.   We will do our best to provide instruction for you if you must miss a class.   This class is the solid foundation you need to move ahead with a new hobby.

If you are bringing a drink into the store, it must be in a securely closed lid container.   Not allowed are cups from Casey's, and Starbuck's.   If these come in, they must stay in the kitchen area.
