T-Shirt Quilt Class

This class will get you started on taking t-shirts from a pile -- to a cherished memory quilt to last a life time -- because face it -- eventually all these shirts that you have right now will eventually be thrown away if we don't take action today!

Come join in and learn how to stabilize your shirts and then get options on how to sew them together!   There are so many ways to sew them -- you just have to get started!

During this class, Peggy will get you started with the stabilization and work with you on how to get started and give you tips on sewing t-shirts together.   If you don't get done or get far enough -- no fear, Peggy is in the store for Open Sew where she will be there to keep you going!

Bring your machine, foot pedal, power cord, new needle and a thread to match your project.   In the store is the stabilizer you will need for your shirts that gives them the stabilization you need without adding the bulk.

In the first class - we will address the shirts that you have to complete your project.  Please bring to this session, your t-shirts, sweatshirts.   You can also the new dri-wicking fabric.   You will stabilizer fabric from the store.   We suggest that you purchase a yard and half to get started.  You can always grab a bit more if needed and depending on the number of shirts you are working with.

In the next session, you will need the fabric you are going to use for sashing, corners and borders.   Peggy will help you calculate how much you need in the first class.   Again, this depends on how many shirts that you are going to build your project from.

Other supplies which you will potentially need:

- sheers to cut your shirts and stabilizer
- acrylic rulers to assist with your project
.  longer ruler (6x24) for cutting fabric
.  a square ruler for cutting your tshirts to size.   (the ruler you choose will be based on the size        of squares you end up making your shirts.  They come in multiple sizes and I would not                  purchase until the first class where this will become more clear)
-  rotary cutter for cutting your fabric
-  a cutting mat for your station or to use at the cutting table

We must have 4 students to move forward with this class.   If you must cancel, please call the shop a day prior to the class.   If we must cancel due to attendance, we will return your class fee as a credit on your account.
