Quilting with your Walking Foot

Using a Walking Foot – Beyond Stitching in the Ditch

Have you been wanting to try quilting yourself?  Or have you used your walking foot but only to stitch in the ditch?  Join Teresa as she starts with the basics of preparing your quilt sandwich to doing creative designs all with your machine and walking foot. We will be using Jacquie Gering’s book Walk as a reference book.

SKILL LEVEL:  Beginner.  A basic knowledge of quilting/sewing is needed.

Expectation – By the end of the class you will be able to use your domestic machine and walking foot to do your own quilting.

Class Approach – During class times, we will learn how to prepare your quilt for quilting and how to do different designs using the walking foot, including using decorative stitches. This class will help build your confidence in quilting with a walking foot.

Meeting 1.

During the first-class meeting, we will take a closer look at the walking foot, how to prepare the quilt project for quilting, selecting the best batting and threads for your projects, marking your quilts as well as what are the best markers to use and practicing on sample quilt sandwiches.

 Meeting 2.

At this class, we will continue to practice using some decorative stitches and curves designs.  Some discussion will be on choosing what design you will use on your quilt.
